In 2015 the millennial and X generations began to outnumber the baby boomer generation in the biggest shift in human capital in history. Professionals that are in the front end of their careers are the future of our business community. They will and have already become business owners, General Managers or CEOs.
It is important to our local Chambers that we provide our young professionals with a resource to connect with fellow young professionals, gain valuable soft skills & learn what a Chamber of Commerce is, how important it is to have a strong Chamber and that they can be the leaders within the Chamber.
The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber collaborated to form the Lower Alabama Young Professionals. The LA Young Professionals are comprised of professionals ranging from 21-40 years of age; they work in different industries and many have found their way to lower Alabama from other parts of the country.
The LA Young Professionals were founded with three important pillars in which they focus.
- CONNECT: Provide opportunities for young professionals to network and build relationships with other young professionals.
- ENGAGE: Encourage young professionals to engage with their community through volunteer service projects and partnerships with local charitable and philanthropic organizations.
- DEVELOP: Cultivate knowledgeable and highly skilled community and business leaders by producing professional development programming for young professionals.
