Good morning!
 
I wanted to take a moment this morning to introduce myself to those I have not yet met and to invite you all to share some information and upcoming free trainings with your members!
 
My name is Claudia Wilson and I represent the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division in Birmingham. In my role, I conduct outreach across the entire state about the labor laws we enforce and to help ensure that employers are compliant with our laws. Some of the laws we enforce include FMLA, minimum wage, overtime, child labor, and temporary work visas such as H-2A. If you or any of your members have questions about their obligations under the laws, please do not hesitate to have them contact me directly. I know that you don’t know what you don’t know, and I want to be able to focus our enforcement efforts on bad actors, not businesses that misunderstand the laws. I am also available to schedule meetings to discuss group trainings if you would like me to provide an overview to multiple members at one time.
 
With training in mind, my Regional Office will be hosting a training from 8:00 am- 3:00 pm CT next Thursday, February 22nd. This webinar will cover FLSA and H-2B and will include multiple agencies (see attached flyer). Please pass this event along to any restaurant or hotel employers, associations, or members of your chamber that might be interested in the event. Attendees are not required to join the entire day, and this is free to attend and learn more!
