  • Foley offices to close Wednesday

FOLEY – Foley non-emergency offices will remain closed Wednesday, Jan. 23, due to severe winter weather.

Due to extreme amounts of snow and severe winter weather, Foley officials determined Tuesday that city offices would remain closed Wednesday.

Foley authorities also reported that police and fire vehicles answering calls Tuesday were experiencing very difficult driving conditions on local roads. Drivers are asked to stay off the roads if at all possible.

On Tuesday, the Gulf Coast area was experiencing snowfall on a level not seen since February 1973.

Baldwin County schools are also closed and Baldwin County officials have warned residents to avoid traveling on area roads. With temperatures expected to remain below freezing until Wednesday, roads will remain dangerous.

The Foley City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for Thursday starting at 4 p.m. at Foley City Hall.

The Foley Railroad Museum and Holmes Medical Museum will also be closed Wednesday.

City garbage and recyclable materials collection are scheduled to resume Thursday when the Baldwin County landfill reopens.

Material scheduled for collection Tuesday and Thursday will be picked up Thursday, Jan. 23. Wednesday and Friday collections will take place Friday, Jan. 24.
