    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

SALT is so grateful for the incredible support from our members over the years—it’s been the heart of our success! In 2025, we look forward to potential new land conservation projects, habitat restoration projects on SALT land, new editions of SALT Line magazine, enriching member programs, and volunteer opportunities. Thank you for being part of our journey—we can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together in the year ahead!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALT!

SALT was officially incorporated on January 16, 1990! The founders of SALT were already working on land conservation projects before that date, but to us, 01/16/1990 is our birthday. Remember in January 1990 . . .

    • The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a record high at 2,800
    • Internet access became commercially available
    • The trial of the former skipper of the Exxon Valdez began
    • President George H.W. Bush announced major changes to the federal Clean Air Act
    • Population (1990): Baldwin County 98,955, Mobile County 379,167
    • SALT membership: 30 (!)

SALT will be celebrating our 35th birthday throughout the year, starting with this year’s Bald Eagle Bash on Saturday, April 26. Stay tuned for announcements about ticket sales, sponsorship opportunities and event details!

    Together, we’re doing incredible things!

Join South Alabama Land Trust for a magical, members-only stargazing evening on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to witness six of our solar system’s planets visible in the night sky simultaneously! Our guide, Mr. Dave Hale, will provide telescopes and knowledge, while we’ll be serving refreshments. Bring sleeping bags or blankets to relax on the lawn, and connect with fellow SALT members under the stars!
