  • Magnolia Run Makes Donation to the Dream Center of Baldwin County

The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and its annual Magnolia Run donated $300 to the Dream Center of Baldwin County.

Each year, a portion of each runner's registration fee is donated to a local nonprofit organization. This year, the Magnolia Run is supporting the Dream Center of Baldwin County - a place where disadvantaged youth can "begin to rebuild and transform their lives with the help of caring mentors and educators... a place where the impossible becomes possible."

Since 2018, the Dream Center has supported teenagers in Baldwin County through education, advocacy, and mentorship to ensure that all participants have access to "basic physical, emotional, and financial resources." By offering evidence-based programs that seek to divert participants from troubled behaviors and improve their interactions with both peers and authority figures, the Dream Center is passionate about "[helping] break the cycles of abuse, victimization, and criminality" by providing mentoring, food access, drug & alcohol education, classroom tutoring, conflict resolution training, financial assistance, workforce readiness, vocational classes, and college application assistance to students in need.

"Organizations like the Dream Center are the backbone of our communities," says Reagan Goff of the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce. "Every child is worth investing in. Every child has the ability to overcome obstacles, to become something great, and to do world-changing things... Some just need a little bit of extra help. The Dream Center provides these students with these opportunities for the personal, social, and educational growth that they may not receive at school or in their homes. Investing in our youth not only changes the trajectory of the students' lives, but also the lives and futures of those within our communities. It's truly an honor to be just a small part of helping a kid change his or her future."

All programs and services are free to participants. The Dream Center is funded fully by grants and donations from companies, organizations, and individuals within the community.
