Foley, AL – September 20, 2024 – The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Doug Lipscomb, owner of RiverView Turf Farm, as the 2024 Walton M. Vines Free Enterprise Person of the Year. Presented by Riviera Utilities, this prestigious award honors individuals who demonstrate the true spirit of American free enterprise. Since 1976, the award has recognized leaders who embody innovation, entrepreneurship, and commitment to their community.

Doug Lipscomb’s leadership at RiverView Turf Farm has set a high standard in sustainable farming, providing premium sod for residential and commercial properties across the region. As owner of multiple businesses, including James Lipscomb and Sons, Inc., Southwind Trucking, LLC, Baldwin County Peanut Company, LLC, and Elite Seed, LLC, Doug exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit. Through his work, he has not only contributed to the economic vitality of Baldwin County but also made a lasting impact on his community.

Doug’s dedication extends far beyond business. He has been a key supporter of numerous local causes and organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Baldwin County Education Coalition, Magnolia School, and the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation. A passionate supporter of local sports, Doug regularly donates sod to athletic facilities within the Foley feeder pattern and sponsors youth sports teams in both Foley and Robertsdale. He also serves as President of the Foley Lions Pride Touchdown Club, organizing their annual Foley Kickoff Party, the main fundraiser for the Foley Lions Football team.

Doug has recently been recognized as a Best of Baldwin 2024 Winner and was a title sponsor of this year’s BBQ & Blues event, further showcasing his community involvement.

When receiving the award, Doug shared his heartfelt appreciation, stating, “I’m surprised mostly, honored and humbled. For those of you who know me, you know I’m a behind-the-scenes guy, not one for the spotlight at all. God has blessed me very, very much, and I am so thankful."

The Walton M. Vines Free Enterprise Summit was attended by over 100 business leaders and community members. The event was broadcast live by Clark Stewart of Radio Baldwin WHEP, and a recorded podcast is available online. A special thanks to Texas Roadhouse of Foley for providing the delicious catering.

Doug’s legacy of generosity, leadership, and entrepreneurship reflects the fundamental values of free enterprise—freedom, opportunity, and responsibility—helping drive both personal and community success.
